Rawalpindi: The Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ijaz Sufi has awarded the death sentence and dual fines to four accused—Muhammad Waqas, Asif, Naqash, and Bilal—in a harrowing case of gang rape and murder.

The incident took place in 2024 when the victim, who was incarcerated at Central Jail Adiala, was gang-raped and subsequently strangled to death using a cloth. A case (FIR No. 1/24) was registered at Sadar Barooni Police Station under Sections 302, 375-A, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, on the complaint filed by the Superintendent of Central Jail Adiala.

Upon the direction of Prosecutor General Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah, the case was declared high-profile, and a special prosecution team was formed under the leadership of District Public Prosecutor Rawalpindi Mian Imran Rahim. The team included Deputy District Public Prosecutor Rehman Shaukat Bhatti and Assistant District Public Prosecutor Mureed Raza.

The prosecution team provided investigative guidance to the investigating officer and submitted a strong case challan backed by solid evidence. The team then pursued the case vigorously in court, with Mian Imran Rahim presenting comprehensive arguments that led to the conviction of the accused.

Prosecutor General Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah lauded the efforts of the prosecution team and congratulated Mian Imran Rahim and his colleagues for securing justice in this landmark case.
