ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given the additional portfolio of Minister of State for Finance to Bilal Azhar Kayani who is currently serving as Minister of State for Railways and Head of PM’s Delivery Unit.
Kayani’s appointment has been confirmed via a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Wednesday citing rule 3(4) of the Rules of Business 1973 and will have immediate effect.
The newly-appointed minister of state for finance, an MNA from Jhelum, holds multiple key positions and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).
Also, is the Convener of the UK-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group at the National Assembly.
With regard to his political role, Kayani is currently the Assistant Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN)
The politician has previously been a member of the National Assembly Standing Committees for Finance & Revenue, Law & Justice, and Economic Affairs and has served as an ex-convener of the Parliamentary Taskforce on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Parliament of Pakistan.
Furthermore, the lawmaker - who holds a degree in Economics from University College London - has been Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Economy and Energy during the 2022-23 PMLN-led coalition government and has also rendered his services at JPMorgan, the Ministry of Finance, and the Privatisation Commission.
