The federal government has very graciously and generously proposed a 10 per cent increase in public-sector salaries and a seven per cent increase in the pensions of retired public servants for financial year 2025-26.
However, lawmakers and other state officials have been given much heftier increases than the ones given to the people. Despite this positive step, it still seems that the top priority of our rulers is their own benefit.
