ISLAMABAD: Senior Turkish parliamentarian Ali Sahin declared that Islamabad is one of Turkiye’s red lines, asserting that Ankara’s security begins with Islamabad.
“Without securing Islamabad, Ankara itself cannot be considered safe,” he said.
“Islamabad is a strategic frontier post for us,” Sahin said. “Turkiye’s security zone effectively begins at the Pakistan-India border.”
He said this in blunt words while giving an interview to Turkiye’s Channel 24. Sahin further stated that Israel views Pakistan as a greater threat than Iran, citing Pakistan’s established nuclear capabilities. “Iran’s nuclear potential remains uncertain, but Pakistan is a confirmed and fully operational nuclear power,” he said.
He cautioned that Israel seeks to neutralise all Muslim military and nuclear powers that may obstruct its expansionist goals. The statement is being interpreted by analysts as a reflection of Turkiye’s growing concern for regional stability and the importance it places on strategic alliances within the Muslim world.
It also underscores Ankara’s unwavering support for Pakistan in the face of emerging global threats. Ali Sahin’s remarks signal a call for greater unity among Muslim nations in matters of defence, sovereignty, and mutual cooperation, amid what he described as increasing attempts to weaken powerful Islamic states.
