PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub Khan on Thursday chaired a review meeting on the ongoing projects of the Irrigation Department in Upper Dir and Lower Dir district.
The minister expressed his anguish over the lack of communication of the Irrigation officers with the members of the provincial assembly, according to an official statement issued here.
The members of the provincial assembly apprised the meeting of the ongoing development work in their respective constituencies and the difficulties faced by them.
The meeting was attended by Members of Provisional Assembly Malik Liaqat, Humayun Khan, Azam Khan, administrative secretary irrigation, chief engineer North, SE and other officials.
Irrigation Minister Arshad Ayub Khan said the KP government had started record development projects in every district of the province without any discrimination and had given equal priority to each district.
“Irrigation plays vital role in the agriculture development. By establishing irrigation on modern lines, we can bring about an agricultural revolution in the country, for which steps are being taken,” he added.
He directed the district officers of the Irrigation Department to meet the members of the assembly on a monthly basis and keep them informed of the progress of the development projects and the problems faced.
During the meeting, the department officers gave briefing about the ongoing development works in Lower and Upper Dir districts and the problems faced in the completion of the projects.
Members of the assembly expressed their concerns about the recruitment of Class-IV employees in the department, on which the minister assured to address their reservations and order appointments on merit.
