Security alert

Friday, Mar 29, 2024

The attacks on the PNS Siddique naval air base in Turbat and on a team of Chinese engineers in Bisham, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which took place less than a day apart on March 25-26, indicate that Pakistan appears to be increasingly vulnerable in terms of security, even though the attack in Turbat was successfully foiled. These incidents, along with past attacks, highlight Pakistan’s struggle against terrorism. With a stagnant economy and strained relations with neighbouring countries, Pakistan must prioritize the safety of foreign workers and investors.

The state needs to address the growing threat from groups like the TTP emanating from Afghanistan. By ensuring comprehensive security nationwide, Pakistan can attract foreign investment and bolster its economy. Failing to address security concerns will impede Pakistan’s economic stability, a top priority for the government.
