The Punjab chief minister's initiative to provide e-bikes to students seems like a very unnecessary proposal. Back in our times, the majority of students travelled in buses. The CM needs to upgrade the educational system, keep a strict check on the quality of education being imparted because the standard only keeps dropping from what I've observed about.
Instead of e-bikes, a proper network of eco-friendly buses should be planned which covers all vicinities. Giving bikes to students would only worsen the traffic fiasco on the roads. And to be able to drive a bike, a person must have a driving licence which students under 18 years of age cannot and should not be eligible for.
