KARACHI: The former Pakistan Women’s skipper Bismah Maroof announced retirement from all cricket having represented her country in 276 international matches.
“I have decided to retire from the game I love the most. It has been an incredible journey, filled with challenges, victories, and unforgettable memories,” she said.
The left-handed batter made ODI debut against India in 2006 and T20I debut against Ireland in 2009, and scored 6,262 runs with 33 fifties and 80 wickets as a right-arm leggie.
“I want to express my gratitude to my family, who supported from the very beginning. I also want to thank the PCB for believing me and providing the platform to showcase my talent. “I am deeply grateful to the fans whose unwavering support has been a constant throughout my career,” Bismah said.
Bismah also captained the green shirts in 96 international matches. “Lastly, I would like to thank my fellow players, who have become like family to me.” “We are all indebted to her immense contributions to Pakistan women’s cricket.
On behalf of the PCB, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for her commitment and invaluable services,” the Head Of Women’s Cricket, Tania Mallick, stated. “I wish Bismah all the best in her future endeavors, and may her journey ahead be as rewarding and fulfilling as her cricketing career has been,” she added. Bismah was also a part of the team that won the Gold Medal twice in the Asian Games 2010 and 2014.
