Pakistan to tour New Zealand after Champions Trophy

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday held a meeting with the New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive Officer Scott Weenink here at the Board’s headquarters to discuss various cricket matters.

In the meeting, which was also attended by the PCB COO Salman Naseer and Director International Cricket Usman Wahla, the Pakistan-New Zealand series and the next year’s Pakistan’s tour to New Zealand were also discussed.

Pakistan team will travel to New Zealand next year after the Champions Trophy which will be hosted by Pakistan. During that series Pakistan will play five T20I matches and three ODIs.

The PCB chief Mohsin Naqi, who is also the country’s interior minister, thanked Weenink for visiting Pakistan. During interaction with the NZC CEO Naqvi said that foolproof arrangements have been made for the New Zealand team.

“Looking after New Zealand team is our responsibility. The team is very close to our hearts and I am myself monitoring the whole arrangements as well as the security arrangements for the tour,” Naqvi was quoted as saying.

Weenink expressed his satisfaction with the arrangements which have been made for the New Zealand team both at Rawalpindi and Lahore. “I am very happy with the arrangements at both these places,” said Weenink, also a former first-class cricketer. Weenink said that New Zealand will tour Pakistan for the tri-nation series which will be held before the Champions Trophy.
