Lawyers, probation officers, prosecutors, members of civil society, child rights activists and others attended the event.
Addressing the ceremony, Sarmad Ali, convenor of JJANP, said that it was a need of time to introduce this kind of a network having all stakeholders under one roof to apply pressure on decision making corners for effective and meaningful implementation of Juvenile Justice System Act 2018. He maintained despite the lapsed of more than five years juvenile justice Act 2018 had not been implemented across Pakistan in its letters and spirit to safeguard the best interests of children in conflict with the penal law.
The Act 2018 was introduced to protect the children from them life imprisonment or even death penalty and penal sanctions and giving juvenile offenders a second chance to life to become responsible and reformed citizens, he said.
