Celebratory gunfire kills man in Lyari

A man was killed during celebratory gunfire at a marriage ceremony in the Lyari area in the early hours of Sunday. Police said the incident took place at a wedding that was held near the Lyari General Hospital within the limits of the Chakiwara police station.

Upon receiving the information, police and rescue workers reached the scene. The deceased man was shifted to the Civil Hospital, Karachi, where he was identified as 45-year-old Israr, son of Dost Muhammad. He was a resident of the same area and was witnessing fireworks and firing, during which a bullet hit him.

Two men killed

Two men lost their lives during clashes over personal disputes in the Azizabad and Ittehad Town areas on Sunday. A young man was killed in a firing incident in Christian Muhalla within the limits of the Azizabad police station. Police officials reached the crime scene and inquired into the incident.

Quoting initial investigations, police said the deceased youth, 25-year-old Shahab, son of Abdus Salamat, was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on a rickshaw by his family. He was shot thrice – twice in his head and one in his chest.

The family told the police that the youth was shot during a clash in the area. A large number of family members and friends of the deceased gathered on a road in Yasinabad to protest against the incident, which caused a massive traffic jam.

No arrest had been made till the filing of this news story. Separately, another man lost his life during a personal dispute in Qaimkhani Colony within the jurisdiction of the Ittehad Town police station.

The deceased person was identified as 35-year-old Nizamuddin, son of Abdul Qamar. Police said the victim was stabbed to death over a personal dispute and they had arrested a suspect, Ayaz. A case has been registered.
