ISLAMABAD: On the day when Nooh Dastagir Butt won a gold medal in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) confirmed the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation's suspension and the other day an Adoc Committee headed by Brig Zafar Iqbal (rtd) was imposed to look after the federation affairs.
Other members of the committee are Dr Hafiz Zafar Iqbal and Nuzhat Jabeen. Deputy Director General Technical PSB will be the coopted member of the Committee.
It is not yet clear whether the federation will accept the PSB decision or whether the international body will allow the government intervention in the affairs of a subordinate body. The international body has strict rules according to which government cannot interfere in federation affairs.
