ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said the general elections will be held on October 8 all over the country.

Talking to media here on Thursday, he said the government would stay no more after August 12 and the caretaker government will come on August 16 and hold elections. He said the political temperature should be lowered as the country was standing on the line of chaos. This is the outcome of Imran Khan’s activities, he said and stressed dialogue to address problems. He said terrorism would not go out of control, but it still existed. “We are taking action against terrorists. Our army and ministry are working to weed its out,” he said, adding that whatever the decision the Supreme Court of Pakistan took would be respected by the government.

Meanwhile, Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif said that the Supreme Court should depict itself as united in protecting the constitution.

He was addressing media after the Supreme Court Judge Justice Amin Uddin rescued himself from the hearing of delay in KP and Punjab polls. Asif opined that in the current situation, the apex court should not get involved in the politics of the state.

The minister also underscored that the recent development – the SC bench break – hints that ‘All is not well’ adding that it’s high time for the Supreme Court to take measures to remove the cracks from the judiciary.

“SC is the biggest institution of justice in Pakistan and it’s the responsibility of all its judges to protect the honour of the institution. “It is a dilemma that we have rifts in all state institutions.”

He also said that the apex court has reached a point where its role will be historical. “If any dispute of opinion occurs in the judicial system then it is not good for Pakistan,” he added.
