ISLAMABAD: Former Senate chairman Mian Raza Rabbani, while condemning the recent incidents of terrorism in which foreign nationals, officers, jawan’s of the armed forces and security forces have embraced martyrdom, asked the government to take the people into confidence as to why the incidents have resurfaced and what steps are being taken to control terrorist movement.
“The government needs to summon a joint sitting of the newly elected Parliament, once the Senate is complete, to be briefed by the stakeholders on the security situation in the country, the region and the steps being taken, as also the role of Parliament,” he demanded in a statement on Wednesday.
Raza Rabbani said there has been a steady increase in terrorism and terrorism related incidents in the recent past, particularly in the provinces of KP and Balochistan.
Rabbani said foreign aided elements are making efforts to destabilise Pakistan, so as to effect the economic recovery and discourage foreign investors. He said the entire nation stands as one in the fight against terrorism.
