ISLAMABAD: Former Senate chairman Mian Raza Rabbani Wednesday said the Supreme Court sanctioned inquiry into the Faizabad Dharna has turned out to be a non-starter and it has tried to shift the burden on the civilian government of the Punjab, exonerating the then director generals of Rangers and ISI.
“The report has shied away from naming people even where it was clear where the responsibility rested,” he said while commenting on the inquiry report on Faizabad Dharna. Rabbani said the report of Faizabad Commission chose to close the matter while avoiding further controversy and avoided to fix any responsibility. He said the inquiry commission in its report has given some lame recommendations of legislation and amendments in the rules, amongst others. He questioned that in the given political context is any political party in a position to present draft legislation. The former Senate chairman said the report has made lame recommendations of reopening the cases against the protesters and other routine counter terrorism related proposals.
