PTI slams adjournments in Imran, Bushra cases

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek Insaf Core Committee on Tuesday criticised the adjournment of hearings in cases involving PTI Founding Chairman Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi, alleging it was an attempt to deny them justice.

The committee decided to postpone discussions on the rejoining of former party members until Imran Khan’s release, intending to present their requests directly to him.

During the meeting, the committee discussed party organisation, the country’s political landscape, and future strategies.

It expressed concern over reported interference in the judiciary, as highlighted in a letter from Islamabad High Court judges.

The committee condemned the chief justice of Pakistan’s perceived reluctance to address the judiciary’s issues promptly and comprehensively.

It commended judges who raised concern about judicial interference and demanded transparency regarding responses

from high courts on the matter.

The committee accused certain parties of trying to prolong Imran Khan’s detention through undue influence on court proceedings.

Furthermore, it condemned attempts to pressure judges and criticised a petitioner and the lawyer for attacking Imran Khan’s advocate Salman Akram Raja.

The committee discussed potential political cooperation with parties except the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

It also discussed plans for a nationwide peaceful protest movement in line with Imran Khan’s directives, while condemning the Punjab government’s use of force against protesting farmers and the resulting economic losses.
