LAHORE:Two women were injured in a firing incident near a petrol pump in the Garden Town police area on Thursday.
A security guard at the petrol pump opened fire at a car whose occupants had allegedly filled their fuel tank and fled without making payment. Tragically, the gunfire resulted in the injury of two female bystanders. Police apprehended the guard responsible for the shooting. The injured women were rushed to Services Hospital.
Man stabs wife to death
A man tortured and stabbed his wife to death in the Raiwind area on Thursday. The accused identified as Ashfaq tortured his wife employing an iron rod and then stabbed her to death and fled the scene. Notably, Ashfaq is reported to have been struggling with drug addiction. Body was shifted to the morgue.
12 die in road accidents in Punjab
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,124 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 12 people died, whereas 1,270 were injured. Out of these, 589 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 681 victims with minor injuries were treated on the spot by Rescue medical teams.
Rape bid foiled; suspect held
Chuhng police arrested a man who attempted to rape a 9-year-old girl. The accused identified as Arshad tried to rape the girl by threatening her. The girl screamed, upon which the accused fled away from the spot. Police arrested the accused and handed over to the Investigation Wing for further investigation.
Decomposed body of woman found
A woman’s decomposed body was found in a drain in the limits of Shad Bagh police on Thursday. The victim had recently shifted to her parents' home following a dispute with her in-laws. Her husband visited her parents' residence to reconcile but failed in his attempt. On the day of the incident, some passerby spotted the victim’s body floating in the drain and informed the police. The body bearing torture marks was shifted to the morgue. DIG Operations took notice of the incident and asked SP City to submit a report in this regard.
