ISLAMABAD: The custodians of the two chambers of parliament Thursday discussed matters related to legislation in the public interest.
In this connection, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at the Parliament House and congratulated him on assuming the office.
According to the Senate Secretariat, Gilani emphasized better coordination between the two Houses, while matters related to legislation in the best public interest also came under discussion.
Former deputy speaker Faisal Karim Kundi, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Senator Saleem Mandviwalla were also present.
Meanwhile, Senate Deputy Chairman Syedal Khan Nasir called on Gilani and congratulated him on his election and conveyed him best wishes.
Gilani said best legislation will be implemented in the Upper House for the development and prosperity of the country. He said all colleagues will go along.
The two custodians also expressed their commitment to run the Upper House in a cooperative and efficient manner.
The meeting also discussed the problems faced by Balochistan.
Gilani congratulated Syedal Khan Nasir on his election as the Deputy Chairman Senate and conveyed him his best wishes.
Separately, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla and Senator Dinesh Kumar called on Syedal Khan and congratulated him on his election as the Senate deputy chairman.
The participants discussed resolving the problems faced by Balochistan and the overall socio-economic situation. The Senate deputy chairman appreciated the services of Sarfraz Bugti as chief minister and appreciated the exemplary development projects initiated under his leadership.
