PESHAWAR: An enrollment drive has been formally launched in Charsadda district, with an aim to enroll approximately 45,000 out-of-school children in the area.
A handout issued here said that two non-governmental organisations, Voluntary Service Overseas and Participatory Rural Development Society (PRDS), have joined hands to distribute free school bags among the newly enrolled boys and girls’ students.
The education department of Charsaddah has set its sights on bringing in these underprivileged students into the educational fold this year. In collaboration with VSO and PRDS, the Elementary & Secondary Education Department KP organised a ceremony at TMA Hall, Charsadda, preceded by an awareness walk to encourage parents to enroll their children in schools.
The enrollment campaign was inaugurated by the chief guest, Charsaddah Mayor Mufti Abdul Rauf Shakir. Additional Assistant Commissioner Abdul Muqsid, District Education Officer (Males) Dr Abdul Malik, DDEO Laila Ali, ADEO Naz Gul, along with representatives of PRDS, VSO, teachers, and PTC members, attended the event.
The statement said that the PTC members and volunteers were actively involved in the admission campaign to raise awareness about the importance of education and ensure the enrollment of every out-of-school child in public sector schools.
Speakers on the occasion expressed concern over the large number of children still out of school in the province, emphasising the collective responsibility to bring them back into the educational system.
