Street crimes, vehicle and mobile snatching and target killing have become the norm in Karachi. According to security experts, more than 250 Karachi residents were shot dead and 1,052 others were wounded by street criminals between 2022 and March 28, 2024.
This is not a mere city-wide or provincial problem. The rise in crime is fuelling instability and hampering economic growth, investment, and development. There is an urgent need to ensure that the Sindh Safe City Project is fully implemented in Karachi.
