Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders are not dealmakers and that is why they are serving jail time for real freedom. PTI leader Advocate Shoaib Shaheen made this remark on Friday as he spoke to the media at the Karachi airport.
"We will not tolerate injustice," he said, adding that the purpose of his visit to Karachi was the party’s organisation. He said decisions to organise the party in Sindh would be made after consultations with the PTI’s provincial leadership.
He lamented that injustice prevailed in Sindh and its urban areas were plagued by organised crime. “Sindh and Karachi are under a fascist rule. The Sindh government has not given anything to the citizens except crime,” Shaheen said.
He said the PTI was not allowed to hold rallies as some people were afraid of someone who was in jail. The PTI leader claimed that the economy was much better during the government of the PTI compared to what it is today.
"The PTI has made Allama Nasir Abbas a senator, and its relationship with Sahibazada Hamid Raza is also strong," he said implying strong relations of the PTI with both the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and Sunni Ittehad Council.
Protests
Meanwhile, the PTI held protests in various areas of Karachi demanding the release of the party founder and former prime minister Imran Khan and rectification of the ‘rigged’ election results.
PTI supporters held banners and placards in the protests and chanted slogans for Khan's release. Speaking to a demonstration at Hasan Square, Sindh PTI President Haleem Adil Sheikh said the public mandate was stolen through rigging in the general elections on February 8 and by-polls on April 21.
"Soon, those elements who committed electoral fraud will be held accountable," he maintained. A protest was also staged outside the Karachi Press Club that was led by Khurrum Sher Zaman. He maintained that the PTI had won many seats of Karachi in the elections, but its mandate was stolen at night. The PTI also held a rally in Hyderabad that was led by former Sindh Assembly member Raja Azhar.
