KARACHI: The District West police arrested a suspect on Monday in the murder case of a woman, who was killed in the name of honour in Orangi Town’s MPR Colony.
Asma was killed with a machete and a hammer at her house. A day after the incident, police took evidence from the spot and arrested one of the suspects, identified as Inayatullah, a brother-in-law of the deceased.
The victim’s husband and his two brothers together allegedly killed the woman in the name of honour. Another brother-in-law of the victim had been arrested soon after the horrific incident. Meanwhile, a windowed woman was shot and injured in Sohrab Goth after she refused a friendship offer from a man.
Ayesha Abdullah, 30, was shot and injured on Sunday night in a slum area, Noor Khan Goth. Police said they responding to information rushed to the house where they found the woman lying injured. She was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she was said to be in a stable condition.
The initial investigation showed that Ayesha is a widow and mother of three children. The woman told police a man named Imtiaz Jatoi had been harassing her for a long time and pressuring her to befriend him but she refused.
