No time to wait

Monday, May 06, 2024

Whenever a debate is organized at any forum about revamping education in Pakistan, the conclusion comes to be that there is a ‘lack of political will’ for education reforms. Although the point is valid, it has become a cliche. Waiting for ‘political will’ is daydreaming. We need a social-oriented solution towards improving the education system. One way is for NGOs working in this sector to target specific communities and work on their attitude towards education.

They must persuade the community members of the power of education to break the chains of marginalization so that they may send their children to schools. Even then things may take several years to improve, but waiting for political will is another way of putting things on the back-burner.
